Export photographs and verify saved files

What you will do

Save two selected photographs as JPEGs in a new subfolder beside the originals, then check the export history and open the saved files.

Before you start

The example uses Arams 1.10.2 on Windows with the English interface and a signed-in account.

  • Import your photographs and wait until both thumbnails appear. The example uses maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg, each 6064 × 4040 pixels, in the same source folder.
  • Keep the full-resolution originals. Choose a new subfolder name so that the example does not write into an existing export folder.
  • This workflow uses Local mode with every tool switched off. It checks saving photographs without retouching. Exporting a cloud preview or running local retouching plugins is outside this example.

Steps

Select the photographs and prepare the export

  1. Click a photograph in the grid.
  2. Press Ctrl+A to select both photographs.
  3. Check that the counter reads 2 photos / 2 selected.
  4. Open the export panel using the upward-arrow icon at the far right.
  5. Select Local.
  6. Open All in the tool list and clear any checked tools to match this example.
  7. Open Export settings.

Choose the destination and file settings

  1. Under Export to, choose Hard drive — To computer.
  2. Under Photos to Export, choose the selected photographs and check Selected: 2. The panel notes that rejected photos will not be counted or exported.
  3. In the folder selector, choose Original Files Folder.
  4. Turn on Put in Subfolder.
  5. Enter a new subfolder name, such as export-practice, then click outside the field to finish editing it. The screenshot uses a unique test-folder name; you do not need to copy that name.
  6. Under Naming and Overwriting, choose Add to the Name: -retouched.
  7. Leave Add to Current Project unchecked.
  8. Turn Resize to fit off to keep the original pixel dimensions.
  9. Select JPEG under Format.
  10. Leave the option to shut down after export unchecked if it is shown.

The naming option adds -retouched even when no retouching tools are active. The suffix describes the chosen filename rule; it does not prove that a photograph has been retouched. JPEG quality was not recorded as a visible value in this test, so no particular quality setting is specified here.

Export and check completion

  1. Review the selected count, destination, subfolder name, filename rule and format.
  2. Click Export at the bottom of the panel.
  3. Open the export history using the history/clock icon in the top bar.
  4. Find the new Export task in EXPORT AND RENDER HISTORY.
  5. Wait for Completed and 100%. The verified test recorded Local mode and Photos 2 for this task.

Check the saved files

Completion in the history is only the first check. Inspect the destination as well:

  1. In Windows File Explorer, open the folder containing the original photographs.
  2. Open the subfolder you entered in Put in Subfolder.
  3. Check that it contains maxine-01-retouched.jpg and maxine-02-retouched.jpg for these example inputs.
  4. Check that both files have a nonzero size and open each one in an image viewer.
  5. Confirm that each file displays the expected portrait without blank areas or visible corruption.
  6. Check the pixel dimensions. With these inputs and Resize to fit off, both outputs should be 6064 × 4040 pixels.
  7. Confirm that the original files remain in their original folder.

The verified export produced exactly two JPEGs at 6064 × 4040. Both saved photographs opened correctly and showed the expected portraits without visible corruption; the originals were unchanged. Other formats, metadata preservation, color-profile handling, overwrite conflicts and exports from multiple source folders were not verified by this example.

If the result does not match

  • The selected count is wrong: return to the grid and check your selection before starting the export. Also check whether a photograph is rejected; the export panel explicitly excludes rejected photos.
  • You cannot find the files: compare the source folder and your subfolder name with Original Files Folder and Put in Subfolder. Do not assume that the destination is the project storage folder.
  • The files are absent from the Arams grid: this example leaves Add to Current Project unchecked. Verify the saved files in the destination folder.
  • A filename ends in -retouched although no tool was enabled: this is the selected naming rule.
  • The task does not complete or a file will not open: retain the task status and exact error message. Recovery from an export failure was not tested here; do not count a progress indicator alone as successful file delivery.
