Export photographs and verify saved files

What you will do

Save selected photographs as full-resolution JPEGs in a new subfolder beside the originals. Keep your chosen retouching in the exported files, or leave the tools off for unretouched copies, while the source files stay in place.

Before you start

  • Import your photographs and wait until their thumbnails appear.
  • This procedure uses Local export. For retouched output, install and activate the local plugins you want to use, then choose their settings. Access to Cloud processing does not mean those plugins are installed and activated on this computer. If you only need unretouched JPEG copies, leave the tools off.
  • Keep the full-resolution originals. This route places the exported JPEGs in a new subfolder instead of replacing or mixing them with the source files.

A Retouch preview is optional. Use it when you want to inspect a processed photograph closely before exporting the selection; otherwise, export directly with the current settings.

Steps

Select the photographs and prepare the export

  1. Select the photographs you want to export. To select all photographs in the current view, click one photograph and press Ctrl+A.
  2. Open the export panel using the upward-arrow icon at the far right.
  3. Select Local.
  4. Open All in the tool list. Keep the tools you want to apply enabled; clear them only if you want unretouched JPEG copies.
  5. Open Export settings.

Choose the destination and file settings

  1. Under Export to, choose Hard drive — To computer.
  2. Under Photos to Export, choose the selected photographs. Rejected photographs are not counted or exported.
  3. In the folder selector, choose Original Files Folder.
  4. Turn on Put in Subfolder.
  5. Enter a descriptive subfolder name, then click outside the field to finish editing it.
  6. Under Naming and Overwriting, choose Add to the Name: -retouched when the files contain retouching. If they do not, choose a naming rule that describes them accurately.
  7. Leave Add to Current Project unchecked if you do not want the exported copies to appear in the current project.
  8. Turn Resize to fit off to export without additional resizing. If you need smaller JPEGs, follow Prepare files for delivery to choose the output dimensions.
  9. Select JPEG under Format.

The screenshot shows full-resolution JPEG settings that keep the output in a separate subfolder. Its subfolder name and naming rule are examples; use names that make the exported set clear for your job.

Export and check completion

  1. Review the selected count, enabled tools, destination, subfolder name, filename rule and format.
  2. Click Export at the bottom of the panel.
  3. Open the export history using the history/clock icon in the top bar.
  4. Find the new Export task in EXPORT AND RENDER HISTORY.
  5. Wait for the task to show Completed and 100%. If it also lists Failed to export, diagnose the failed photographs before treating the set as complete. Otherwise, continue to the subfolder you named.

Check the saved files

Before delivery, open the subfolder in Windows File Explorer and confirm the result:

  1. Open the folder containing the originals, then open the subfolder you entered in Put in Subfolder.
  2. Check that the exported count and filenames match the photographs you intended to deliver. Rejected photographs are excluded.
  3. Open a representative JPEG and check its retouching, crop and dimensions against the output you intended. If the set contains different crops or retouching settings, spot-check an example of each.

Keep the originals until the delivery has been accepted.

If the result does not match

  • The selected count is wrong: return to the grid and check your selection before starting the export. Also check whether a photograph is rejected; the export panel explicitly excludes rejected photos.
  • You cannot find the files: compare the source folder and your subfolder name with Original Files Folder and Put in Subfolder. Do not assume that the destination is the project storage folder.
  • The files are absent from the Arams grid: if Add to Current Project was unchecked, look for the saved files in the destination folder instead.
  • A filename ends in -retouched although no tool was enabled: the suffix comes from Naming and Overwriting, not from the tool state. Choose a more accurate naming rule and export again.
  • Wanted retouching is missing: return to All, enable the intended tools and check their settings before exporting again.
  • The task does not complete or a file will not open: keep the originals and use Diagnose stalled processing and export to identify the affected photograph before retrying.
