Import photos
What you will do
Section titled “What you will do”Add two JPEG photos to a project and check that their thumbnails and filenames appear in the photo grid.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Sign in to Arams and create an empty project. This example uses a project named Portrait session, Windows, and the English interface in Arams 1.11.0-dev.3.
Have two JPEG photos available on your computer. The example uses maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg, both at their full resolution of 6064 × 4040 pixels. You do not need to resize these photos for import.
- Open the empty project in Arams.
- In Windows File Explorer, open the folder containing your two JPEG photos.
- Select both files.
- Drag the selected files into the project’s central photo area and release them there.
- Wait for both thumbnails and filenames to appear in the grid.
Check the result
Section titled “Check the result”The project now shows 2 photos at the top. In this example, Previous Import is selected in the left sidebar and shows a count of 2. The grid contains maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg, each with its own portrait thumbnail and a JPG label.
The screenshot shows 1 selected, with a blue outline around the first photo. Selection is separate from the number of imported photos: check that both files are present.
Import is complete at this point. You do not need to click Analyze 2, Retouch preview, or Export to add the photos.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”If the project still shows 0 photos, or either filename or thumbnail is missing, the expected result has not been reached. Compare the two filenames in your source folder with those in the grid before continuing.
This walkthrough covers dragging two JPEG files into an empty project. Import through the Add Photos file dialog, duplicate imports, and RAW files have not been verified for this walkthrough. For an empty project after an unsupported file drop, see Diagnose import failures.
