Complete your first photo workflow

What you will do

Complete a small practice workflow from an empty project to two checked JPEG copies. You will import full-resolution photographs, inspect one, select both, and export them without running a retouching tool.

Before you start

Sign in to Arams and have two JPEG photographs available in the same folder. This example uses maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg, both 6064 × 4040 pixels. Keep the originals and do not resize them before import.

These steps were verified on Windows in Arams 1.10.2 with the English interface. The example uses Local mode with every retouching tool switched off. Retouching is optional and is not part of this first workflow.

Steps

Create a practice project and import JPEGs

  1. On the home screen, click Create a project.
  2. Enter First workflow in Name, leave the default location selected, and click Create.
  3. Wait for the empty project to open.
  4. In Windows File Explorer, select maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg, then drag them into the central photo area.
  5. Wait until the counter reads 2 photos and both filenames appear in the grid.

For the same actions with more detail and troubleshooting, see Create a project and Import photos. This verified route uses drag and drop; it does not verify the Add Photos file dialog.

Inspect and select the photographs

  1. Double-click maxine-01.jpg.
  2. Wait for the portrait to appear in the large viewer. In this example, the scale indicator reads 100%.

  1. Click the four-square Gallery icon in the top toolbar to return to the grid.
  2. Click either photograph, then press Ctrl+A.
  3. Check that both cards have a blue outline and the counter reads 2 photos / 2 selected.

Export and inspect the saved copies

  1. Open the export panel and select Local.
  2. Open All in the tool list and switch off every retouching tool.
  3. Open Export settings.
  4. Choose Hard drive — To computer and Selected: 2.
  5. Choose Original Files Folder, turn on Put in Subfolder, and enter a new folder name such as first-workflow-export.
  6. Choose Add to the Name: -retouched. The suffix is a filename rule in this example; it does not mean that a tool was run.
  7. Leave Add to Current Project unchecked and turn Resize to fit off.
  8. Select JPEG, and leave the shutdown option unchecked if it is shown.
Export settings for the selected photographs: a new subfolder, JPEG, resize off and the -retouched suffix.
Check the selected count, new subfolder, filename rule, Resize to fit setting and JPEG format before exporting. Arams 1.10.2 · Windows · English
  1. Click Export.
  2. Open EXPORT AND RENDER HISTORY with the history/clock icon and wait for the task to show Completed and 100%.
  3. In Windows File Explorer, open the new subfolder beside the originals.
  4. Open both saved files and check their names, portraits and pixel dimensions.

Check the result

The export folder contains exactly these two files for the example inputs:

  • maxine-01-retouched.jpg
  • maxine-02-retouched.jpg

Both files should open as the expected portraits. With Resize to fit off, each copy should remain 6064 × 4040 pixels. The two original JPEGs remain unchanged in their original folder.

The verified run produced two decodable full-resolution JPEGs, recorded Local mode with no tools enabled, and showed an export task at Completed / 100%. This proves the unretouched JPEG-copy workflow only; it does not verify a retouching plugin, cloud processing, other formats, metadata preservation, or color-profile handling.

If it does not work

  • The grid does not show both filenames: stop before selecting or exporting. Follow Import photos and wait for both thumbnails and filenames.
  • The selected count is not 2: return to the grid, click a photograph, press Ctrl+A, and check 2 selected.
  • A tool is still enabled: clear every tool under All before opening the export settings if you want to reproduce this no-retouching route.
  • The saved files are missing: compare the source folder and the name under Put in Subfolder. This example saves beside the originals, not in the project storage folder.
  • The task is not completed or a file will not open: keep the exact task status or error. Do not treat a progress indicator alone as a successful export.
