Customize keyboard shortcuts
What you will do
Section titled “What you will do”Customize a keyboard shortcut to make a frequent action easier to reach. This example changes Set image rating to 4 from 4 to Shift+4, uses it to rate a photograph, and shows how to restore the default key.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Sign in to Arams and open a project with a photograph you can rate. Choose a key combination that is easy to remember and does not interfere with another shortcut you use.
Change the shortcut
Section titled “Change the shortcut”- Click Settings.
- Select Shortcuts in the left menu.
- Scroll to Set image rating to 4. Its default shortcut is 4.
- In the Actions column for that row, click the pencil icon.
- When Enter a new key combination opens, press Shift+4.
- Confirm that the dialog shows Shift + 4, then click Accept.
The Set image rating to 4 row now shows Shift and 4 in the Shortcut column.
Check the new shortcut
Section titled “Check the new shortcut”Return to the project, select a photograph, and press Shift+4. The photograph shows a rating of 4 beside a gold star.
Restore the default shortcut
Section titled “Restore the default shortcut”- Return to Settings, then select Shortcuts.
- Scroll to Set image rating to 4.
- In that row’s Actions column, click the reset icon (the small square with an ×). The shortcut changes back to 4.
If it does not work
Section titled “If it does not work”- The key combination is not shown in the dialog: click the shortcut preview area if necessary, then press the complete combination again before clicking Accept.
- The shortcut does not affect a photo: return to the project and make sure a photograph is selected before pressing the keys.
- The wrong row changed: find Set image rating to 4 and use the reset icon in that same row, then repeat the change there.
- The rating appears as a number and one star: this is the compact card display. A 4 beside a gold star means the rating was applied.
