Filter photographs during culling

What you will do

Use the rating filter to concentrate on the photographs you want to review—for example, your four-star keepers or images below a chosen threshold. Filtering only changes which photographs appear in the gallery; you can restore the full gallery without clearing any ratings.

Before you start

Sign in and open a project that contains photographs with manual star ratings. If you have not rated your photographs yet, see Rate photographs for culling. You do not need to analyze or retouch photographs before filtering them by rating.

Steps

Show the rating filter

1. If the filter bar is hidden, click the funnel icon in the toolbar above the gallery.
2. Locate the comparison button and five stars near the left end of the filter bar. These stars set the filter; the rating beneath each thumbnail belongs to that photograph.
3. If you want to start from the full gallery, click the circular-arrow reset button at the far right of the filter bar.

Show photographs rated four or higher

1. Set the comparison button immediately before the filter stars to ≥. If necessary, click the button until ≥ appears.
2. Click the fourth star in the filter bar so that four stars are gold.
3. Review the gallery. It now shows photographs rated four stars or higher, and the photo count reflects the filtered result.

A rating filter of ≥4 shows the four-star photograph and hides the two-star photograph. Arams 1.10.2 · Windows · English

Change the comparison

The comparison controls which side of the chosen rating appears. Keep the filter at four stars and click the comparison button to cycle through these modes:

Symbol	Show photographs rated	When to use it
≥	Four or higher	Review your strongest ratings from a chosen threshold.
=	Exactly four	Work with one rating group.
≤	Four or lower	Revisit photographs at or below a chosen threshold.

Clicking once from ≥ changes to =, again to ≤, and again returns to ≥.

Understand an empty gallery

If no photograph matches the comparison and rating, Arams displays No photos found matching the selected filter, a Rating chip, and Loosen the filter settings to see photos. The counter reads 0 photos / 0 selected. Your photographs are still in the project; loosen or reset the filter to show them again.

Restore the gallery

1. Click the circular-arrow reset button at the far right of the filter bar.
2. The hidden photographs return and the filter stars become gray. Ratings beneath the thumbnails remain unchanged.

Before applying another action, check the selected counter and highlighted cards. Do not assume that the same photographs remain selected after you filter or reset the gallery.

If it does not work

• The gallery is empty: check the comparison symbol and the number of gold filter stars. Loosen the filter, or use the circular-arrow button to show the full gallery again.
• Lower-rated photographs are still visible: check whether the comparison is ≤. Click the comparison button until ≥ appears.
• The filter stars are gray, but the cards still have gold rating stars: the filter has been reset successfully. Resetting filters preserves the photographs’ ratings.
• You cannot find the filter stars: use the funnel icon above the gallery to reveal the bar.
