Process a photograph locally

What you will do

Create a retouch preview on this computer and compare it with the original photograph.

Before you start

These steps were verified in the English Windows interface of Arams 1.10.2, with a signed-in account and Heal already activated on this computer. Activation is a separate task.

Import your photographs and select one. The example uses two full-resolution 6064 × 4040 JPEG portraits, maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg. Only maxine-01.jpg was processed; the counter shows 2 photos / 1 selected.

Steps

  1. Click the wand icon on the right toolbar (tooltip Retouching) to open the retouching panel, then select Local.
  2. Clear any other selected plugins and select Heal. Confirm its checkbox is enabled and selected. The example uses Heal at 100.
  3. Check that Retouch preview is enabled. Before processing, hovering over the indicator beside Heal shows Select a plugin and press “Retouch preview” to see the result of retouching before export.

  1. Click Retouch preview.
  2. Wait until the missing-preview indicator beside Heal disappears and Retouch preview becomes disabled. Hover over the preview control to see Preview is already available for all active plugins.
  3. Double-click the photograph. Hold the before/after control at the lower right of the image to see the original; release it to see the preview.

Check the result

Section titled “Check the result”

Review the actual original and result images, including face detail. The selected plugin must remain enabled in Local mode. The example shows visible changes to small skin marks on the forehead and cheeks. Judge the result on your own photograph; a completed UI state alone does not prove visual quality. This task covers a preview, not exporting a retouched file, batch processing or persistence after restarting.

If the plugin is unavailable

If Heal has no selectable checkbox or Retouch preview is unavailable before processing, check the displayed plugin status and preview tooltip. These steps require an activated, selectable plugin that supports previews. A disabled preview control accompanied by Preview is already available for all active plugins is the completed state shown here. Recovery from missing or unusable plugins was not verified in this workflow.
