Clean clothing and studio backgrounds

What you will do

Use Fabric to reduce distracting wrinkles in a white shirt and Clean Backdrop to remove a small mark from a plain studio background. Test each tool by itself before combining them, then inspect the shirt seams, collar, hair, skin, and subject outline in the full-resolution JPEG.

This workflow was verified on Windows in Arams 1.10.2 with the English interface and Local processing. Both tools were already installed, activated, and available to the signed-in account. The value 100 made the differences visible on these two photographs; it is a comparison value, not a recommended setting for every image.

Before you start

• Create a practice project and import the authorized full-resolution maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg files. Both must remain at 6064 × 4040; do not resize them for processing.
• Work on disposable copies. Keep both source files unchanged and export every test to a new subfolder.
• Choose Local and All. Disable tools that are not part of this comparison.
• Confirm that Fabric and Clean Backdrop are installed, activated, and selectable. Do not purchase a tool or change the account for this exercise.

Steps

Choose a useful frame and inspect it first

1. Select maxine-02.jpg and open it in the larger viewer.
2. Wait until Loading… disappears. Note the displayed zoom percentage and keep that same percentage for every comparison.
3. Inspect the white shirt for small wrinkles around the shoulder, front panel, seam, and collar. Treat the collar shape, stitching, larger folds, and fine weave as intentional structure unless the photograph shows otherwise.
4. Inspect the plain backdrop, especially the area to the left of the subject’s head. In the verified source, a small dark mark is visible there.
5. Check the hairline, flyaway hairs, skin edge, shoulder, and the transition between the subject and the backdrop. These boundaries must survive the cleanup.

The displayed 100% makes the captured comparisons consistent. The exported file dimensions are checked separately.

Test Fabric by itself

1. Return to the retouching panel. Enable only Fabric and set its Blending value to 100.
2. Export the selected photograph as a JPEG to a new subfolder with Resize to fit off.
3. Import the exported copy into the practice project and open it at the same displayed scale as the source.
4. Compare the shoulder and front of the shirt. In the verified result, Fabric reduced the smaller creases while the shoulder seam, collar edge, stitching, larger folds, and visible cloth texture remained recognizable.
5. Check the backdrop too. The small dark mark remains in this Fabric-only result, which confirms that the clothing and backdrop trials are separate.

If the cloth looks flat, seams soften, or a deliberate fold disappears, reduce Blending and export a new test. Do not keep 100 merely because it was useful for this example.

Test Clean Backdrop by itself

1. Disable Fabric. Enable only Clean Backdrop and set its Blending value to 100.
2. Export another full-resolution JPEG to a different new subfolder, then import and open the copy at the matched scale.
3. Compare the plain area to the left of the subject’s head. In the verified result, the small dark mark was removed while the backdrop’s tone and transition remained even.
4. Trace the full visible boundary around the hair, face, neck, shoulder, and shirt. The reviewed result retained flyaway hairs and did not show an obvious halo or a cut-out edge.
5. Check the shirt. Its original wrinkles remain in this backdrop-only result, so do not use Clean Backdrop as evidence of fabric cleanup.

Clean Backdrop removed the identified studio-background mark without an obvious halo or damage to the subject outline. Arams 1.10.2 · Windows · English

Clean Backdrop was verified on this plain studio background. It does not establish behavior on patterned, textured, or location backgrounds.

Combine only the useful corrections

1. Enable both Clean Backdrop and Fabric. For the verified comparison, both Blending values were 100.
2. Recheck that unrelated tools are disabled before processing.

3. Export maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg as separate JPEG copies with Resize to fit off. Use new subfolders and do not overwrite the sources.
4. Open the original close portrait and the combined close result at the same scale. Compare the shoulder seam, collar, fine shirt texture, stray hairs, skin boundary, and the smooth background transition.

5. Repeat the comparison on the medium portrait. Confirm that the useful shirt cleanup and removal of the backdrop mark are both still present, without flattened fabric, erased seams, damaged hair, a halo, or a broken subject outline.

6. Open all saved JPEGs outside Arams. Confirm that every file decodes and remains 6064 × 4040. Verify that the two source files are unchanged.
7. Confirm that the six controlled exports—Fabric only, Clean Backdrop only, and combined for both photographs—report Completed in export history.

Check the result

The Fabric-only copy should show a useful reduction in small clothing wrinkles while retaining the seam, collar, larger folds, and cloth texture. The Clean-Backdrop-only copy should remove the identified dark background mark while preserving the hair, skin, shirt edge, and smooth tonal transition. The combined copy should retain both useful corrections without adding a halo or making the subject look cut out.

In the verified run, all six JPEGs decoded at 6064 × 4040, their hashes differed from their corresponding sources, and both source hashes remained unchanged. This proves the reviewed behavior on these two photographs only. It does not make 100 a universal value or promise the same result on every garment or background.

If it does not work

• Fabric or Clean Backdrop is missing or disabled: stop and check Settings > Plugins. Continue only if the signed-in account already has the required tool available for installation or activation. Do not buy a plugin, claim a key, or deactivate another device.
• The background has no clear distraction: choose another authorized frame with a real, visible mark. Do not fabricate dust or stains to make the example work.
• Fabric removes useful structure: reduce Blending, export a new copy, and compare the seam, collar, stitching, folds, and weave again.
• Clean Backdrop damages the subject boundary: reduce or disable it for that photograph. Inspect hair, skin, clothing edges, and background transitions at useful magnification.
• Processing or export does not complete: open export history and preserve the exact status or error. Do not treat a preview or changed setting as proof of a saved result.
• The output is resized or will not decode: leave Resize to fit off and export to another new subfolder. Keep the originals and failed output for diagnosis.
