Use retouching presets

What you will do

Save a retouching configuration as a named preset, then reuse it on another photograph. In this example, Portrait Heal 75 enables Heal and sets Sensitivity to 75 on the second photo.

Applying the preset changes retouching settings. Generating a retouched preview or exporting a processed photo is a separate action.

Before you start

These steps were verified on Windows in Arams 1.11.0-dev.3, with the English interface and a signed-in account where Cloud and Heal were available.

Open a practice project with two imported photographs. This example uses maxine-01.jpg and maxine-02.jpg, full-resolution 6064 × 4040 JPEG portraits. Import the photographs without reducing their resolution and wait for both thumbnails to appear.

Steps

Prepare the settings to save

1. Click maxine-01.jpg in the photo grid. Check that its filename appears beside 2 photos / 1 selected.
2. Open Retouching using the magic-wand icon in the toolbar at the far right.
3. Select Cloud at the top of the right panel.
4. Select All below Presets.
5. Select the checkbox beside Heal under Plugins → Human.
6. Expand the Heal section if Sensitivity is hidden. Move the pointer over the section to reveal its expand control.
7. Enter 75 in the numeric Sensitivity field and press Tab. Check that Heal remains checked and the value remains 75.

The value 75 is a practice setting, not a recommendation for every portrait. See Choose retouching tools and settings for more about these controls.

Create a named preset

1. Expand Presets using the chevron beside its heading if Create preset is hidden.
2. Click Create preset.
3. In the Preset name dialog, enter Portrait Heal 75. The Accept button is disabled while the name is empty.

Enter a name for the current settings, then click Accept. Arams 1.11.0-dev.3 · Windows · English

4. Click Accept.
5. Check that the dialog closes and Portrait Heal 75 appears under Presets.

The saved preset appears under Presets. Arams 1.11.0-dev.3 · Windows · English

Apply the preset to another photograph

1. Click maxine-02.jpg in the photo grid. Check its filename and confirm that only one photo is selected.
2. For a visible practice comparison, enable Heal, set Sensitivity to 40, and press Tab.
3. Clear the Heal checkbox. You now have a different starting configuration on the second photo.
4. Click Portrait Heal 75 in the Presets list.
5. Expand Heal if needed. Confirm that its checkbox is selected and Sensitivity reads 75.

The preparation with 40 is only a way to check the change. When reusing the preset normally, select the target photo and click the saved preset name.

Check the result

With maxine-02.jpg selected, the right panel should show Heal enabled and Sensitivity set to 75. The preset name remains in the list and both photos remain in the grid.

Click maxine-01.jpg, then maxine-02.jpg again. Both should retain Heal enabled at 75 within the open project. You can stop here: Retouch preview and Export are not needed to save or apply this preset.

This walkthrough verifies one saved preset applied to one other photo. Batch application, persistence after restarting Arams, preset file import/export, renaming, and deletion were not tested here.

If it does not work

• Create preset is hidden: expand the Presets section using its chevron.
• Accept is disabled: enter a preset name; an empty name cannot be accepted.
• Sensitivity is hidden: expand the Heal section.
• You are checking the wrong photograph: look at the filename beside the selection counter before applying the preset or comparing settings.
• Cloud or Heal is unavailable: these controls must be available to follow this example. Recovery from an account or server error was not verified.
